CHSI

Continuous High School Improvement: Norfolk Public Schools began a multi-year exploration of high school reform to consider the needs of contemporary graduates. The premise of these efforts is described in the CHSI brochure. In addition to staff meetings and retreats, this project utilized a newsletter to disseminate information about the project. (Two samples are provided here. One introduces the CHSI project. The second updates progress and shares information.) The intent of this continuous improvement project was to start a dialogue between school staff, students and community members regarding the future of public high schools. One phase of this public discussion included a Town Hall meeting hosted by a local talk-radio host (agenda included) and creation of a website. In addition, grant funding allowed us to explore some marketing venues not typically utilized by public school systems such as airport ads, public transit ads, movie ads, and billboards.
